Staten Island Community Habilitation program carefully pairs each participant with a mentor to ensure that the goals, set by participants and parents, are met.
Participants can learn how to plan an outing, safely travel and explore their community, work on money skills and much more, all while building a lasting relationship with their mentor.
This is a wonderful opportunity to establish appropriate ADL and socialization skills and to participate in fun filled activities
City Access New York offers one on one Community Habilitation in Brooklyn for those that are enrolled in our Brooklyn Day Hab or Vocational Programs.
Community Habilitation gives one the opportunity to work on specific goals and ADL skills with the intention of living more independently.
* Explore your community and other neighborhoods
* Have a buddy to help you navigate transportation to and from worksites, appointments or any other destination
* Work on skills such as planning and preparing a meal
